Last week, we began looking at several different cleaning habits and tricks that can help us get the most out of our house cleanings. Efficient Cleaning Hacks, Continued

Of course, this list of tricks, tips, and cleaning hacks isn’t exhaustive. They’re a springboard to get you started, and you might even come up with a few of your own!

* Vacuum, Sweep, & Mop After Cleaning: this is a great cleaning rule to have for any and every room— from the kitchen, bathroom, to living spaces. Dirt and debris will inevitably fall to the ground while we’re cleaning, and sweeping (or vacuuming) it up afterwards

* Disinfect Surfaces After Scrubbing Them Clean: not only should we be scrubbing off dirt, build up, and spots from the surfaces we clean, but after we’ve taken the dirt, stains, etc. up, we should be disinfecting and sanitising the surfaces afterwards. Disinfecting rids surfaces of bacteria and germs that might be lurking there, invisible. It’s important to get the visible signs of dirt, as well as the invisible. This provides, not only a clean environment, but a healthy one, too!

* Develop a Pattern of Cleaning: work to find your own, unique cleaning groove. We all function and think uniquely. Sometimes a method or pattern of work that helps one of us, might not be helpful for another. Take a little bit of time to think about how you best get work done, consider the different patterns of cleaning that work for you and those that don’t. Develop a good pattern and series of habits that you can implement every time you clean. Once you have this down, use this pattern every time. If it helps you to knock out the big stuff first, or vacuum the entire house last (and all in one go), do it!

* Organise & Then Clean: having an organised space before you clean can actually help you clean a little faster. Having the space organised before you clean means that you aren’t moving things around to get to the object that needs to be cleaned. Organised spaces not only make for a quicker, faster clean—that saves you a lot of time and hassle—can also ensure that you have a cleaner space. If your desk or bathroom counter is readily accessible (and isn’t covered by clutter) more of it will get cleaned! It’s a win-win situation.
