A Colorado Springs Christmas | Maid to Shine

When Maid to Shine comes to clean then there’s plenty of time to do fun things with the family this December! We’ve compiled a small list of fun and local attractions to get you in to the holiday spirit.

1. Skate in the Park

Test your balance as you skate around a 4,675 square-foot ice rink. Located in downtown Colorado Spring’s Acacia Park, this chilly exploit makes for a perfect family outing or date night. Rent a pair of skates for just $10 and hit the ice. Afterwards, you can enjoy one of Colorado Springs fine eateries that surrounds the lovely little park.

2. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Electric Safari

Bundle the kids up and head to the zoo! All throughout December you can stroll through Christmas lights as you take in the beauty of the animals that call this place their home. Plus, Santa will be seeing good boys and girls through December 23. Check their website for details and get ready to have a great time!

3. Enjoy Live Theater

Support Colorado Spring’s Fine Art’s Center as they put on Roald Dahl’s, Matilda the Musical, through January 6. Although this musical isn’t exactly Christmas themed it is full of child-like wonder and teaches the importance of believing in ones self (that seems to be in the spirit of Christmas).

If you’re looking for something a little more festive check out the unique live performance, “The Puppet Maker: A Story of Christmas”. Step inside the workshop of a village woodcarver as he painstakingly prepares a marionette Nativity scene for a local Christmas music festival. On this eventful Christmas Eve night before the pageant, as he applies the finishing touches to his figures, a Christmas story unfolds that is both timeless and unexpected. This holiday show runs from December 14-January 1.

4. Michael Garman’s Magic Town

It’s Christmas in sculptors, Michael Garman’s, Magic Town! See the miniature buildings and streets decked out for the holidays, plus enjoy a scavenger hunt as you peek in to tiny hotels, restaurants and so much more. This local attraction is certainly worth seeing and is excellent for those on a budget with adult admission costing on $5 and children $3. We recommend this sight to anyone who wants to feel like a giant!

5. Yule Tea at Glen Eyrie Castle

Feel like royalty this season as you sip on tea in Colorado Spring’s Glen Eyrie Castle. This beautiful feat of architecture is truly something to behold, take a step back in time and see where Colorado Spring’s founder, General Palmer, called his home. This activity is magical for all ages and a wonderful look into the history of our gorgeous city.

There’s of course so many things to do this season, but if time is limited, we recommend checking out these festive holiday events. What are your favorite activities to do this time of year, we’d love to hear from you! We wish everyone all this best as we go in to the most wonderful time of the year!
