Cleaning the Forgotten Things

It’s easy to remember to clean the toilets, floors and countertops because you see them every day but as you go in to your spring cleaning don’t forget these little things that could use a good wipe down too.

Vacuum Filter

When you clean out the vacuum does that make you a vacuum cleaner? Run your vacuum filter by itself through the dishwasher to get the dust off that you don’t even think about.

Trash Can

Maybe you remember to wipe down the outside because that’s what you see, but the inside needs some love too. Spray it down with your favorite natural cleaner to say goodbye to bacteria that may have made the trash can its home.

AC/Heating Vents

Cleaning this could really make a difference in the amount of dust that goes into the air of your home. Do this a couple times a year and you’ll be set, we’ve found some great instructions for you here.

Door Knobs

Think about it, you’re touching these every day! We’d actually recommend cleaning your doorknobs once a week, there’s no telling what’s living on that surface.

What are some other things in your home that are easily overlooked when it comes to cleaning? Let us know in the comments and please feel free to share any tips and tricks you may have!

  1. Good points, though. No kidding… I actually was in my son’s bathroom this morning and saw the back of the door and thought to myself… why have I not cleaned that lately when I’ve been up here before… I guess it’s easy to miss

  2. Hey,

Your blog article about Cleaning the Forgotten Things was imposing. Your expertise on describing the details of the topic was even better. All the stuff you have listed was excellent and I found it very helpful in many ways. Every part you touched on your post was so amazing because you cleverly covered most of the aspects in a short note.

  3. The best part is AC/Heating Vents. There are many reasons to clean the air ducts in your home. When ducts are clean, the heating system lasts longer (because there is less dirt wearing out its components), we dust less often, and the air we breathe at home is cleaner. For those of us with allergies, this should be a welcome improvement.

Probably you don’t own a high-powered, truck-mounted vacuum system with 150 foot-hoses; perhaps you can’t afford the cost of such service. But I am going to tell you how you can clean air ducts yourself. Sure, you won’t be able to reach every nook and cranny, but you can still eliminate roughly 85% of the dust in your system without spending any more than the cost of your new furnace filter.

There are many different designs of duct systems, such as attic systems and underground systems, but the theory of cleaning these systems is the same. You may not be able to access all parts of these systems (for example, underground ducts), but you can make a difference in your air quality by cleaning the parts of the system that you can reach.

    • Actually air duct cleaning service does not have to be expensive. Something that only need to be cleaned every 3 to 5 years is actually quite affordable. I offer the negative air duct cleaning service and on average a 2,000 square foot home is only $289.
So based on cleaning the air duct only every 3 to 5 years. It is only a little over $70 per year applied towards a cleaner and healthier home for you and your family. A small price to pay for a healthy home in my opinion. https://www.fortcollinsductcleaning.com/

  4. This is very useful detailing. Most of the time we tend to forget the obvious. Door knob is a place where everybody is putting the infections and everybody is getting infected. AC, HVAC are other areas where lot of pollutants get absorbed. Cleaning these basic stuffs around your home makes a huge difference in overall healthy living. Thanks for sharing.

  5. It would be really nice to find a cleaning service for my house. It would take a lot of stress off me and save so much time. It’s good to know that it’s best to find a company that offers secure online booking and transparent pricing, like you said. That will make the process so much easier. You will know what to expect upfront and will get them scheduled quickly. Nate http://www.leessummitcleaners.com/

  8. Hey, the article is really informative. Cleaning the ‘obvious’ things is something that we do almost on auto-pilot, but these little forgotten items are often the ones that fester the most dust and bacteria. Remembering to clean places which are ‘out of sight, out of mind’ can make a significant difference in maintaining an overall healthy household.
