Cleaning the Microwave in 6 Steps

It’s easy to forget the microwave when you’re cleaning the kitchen, but that’s a big no-no! It’s important to keep the microwave clean for your health and safety. You don’t want to start a fire because some bacon grease is still lingering inside from a few breakfasts ago. Check out our 6 easy steps to quickly and efficiently getting the microwave clean.

What you’ll need: 1 white cotton towel and a cleaning solution of your choice (we recommend some kind of natural, all-purpose disinfectant).

  1. I use a sponge dampened with water and dipped in a little baking soda to clean microwave. Also, don’t spray directly on the appliance, or you’ll risk cleaner getting into the vent holes.

  2. Great guide! I read somewhere that you can saturate a sponge with water, add a few drops of lemon essential oil, and microwave it for about two minutes. The steam coming off the sponge will help loosen up the food splatters, making it so much easier to wipe your microwave clean afterward. Haven’t tried this though.
